Immediately after obtaining my Master’s degree in Computer Science, I was hired as an E-Business Specialist in 2002. It was my first job in Canada.

On the whole, my job consists of supporting two websites for Seaway: and I work with a small team and my work has great variety. It includes web server maintenance, system monitoring, system backup, security issues, database administration, java programming, webpage design, web content updating, and email broadcasting.

I work at the head office in Cornwall. Cornwall provides a quality of life I couldn’t find elsewhere. What I like most is the lack of traffic. It just takes me 10 minutes to drive to work, 10 minutes for shopping, and 10 minutes to go fishing!

Maisonneuve location

After my 20-year career as an electromechanic, which was an enriching experience, I joined the SLSMC in August of 2007. I occupy the role of Canal Service Technician.

My work combines the roles of lock operator and electrician. As lock operator, I proceed with the mooring of ships and the operation of structures. As electrician, I work in the installation, repair, maintenance, inspection and diagnosis of the electrical control systems, using measuring instruments and electronic devices. After the closure of the navigation season, I work with the electrical maintenance group on several projects until the opening of navigation. This year, I participated in the project to renew the electrical control systems at locks 3 and 4 in Beauharnois. It was a very gratifying experience.

The company commits to the fundamental values of its employees. It offers in-house training and encourages employees to constantly improve with the aim of creating an environment of success.
