We’re looking for an experienced professional with in enhancing safety in a federally regulated workplace, wishing to expand their knowledge and to achieve strategic goals.

 

Location:           Quebec: St. Lambert or Brossard

                           Ontario: St. Catharines or Cornwall

Assignment:     Temporary (approximately 11 months)

Hours of work:  37.5 per week
Annual salary:  $
106 275 - $117 975

Experience and knowledge

  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in occupational health and safety in a unionized, industrial environment.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations, and relevant SLSMC procedures, rules and standards.
  • Sound knowledge of safety standards applicable to an industrial environment, such as WHMIS, lockout procedures and risk assessments.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage safety programs, special projects and awareness campaigns in accordance with SLSMC policies, relevant legislation, and other applicable standards and regulations.
  • Participate in joint safety committees and provide an advisory role.
  • Work in collaboration with all levels of management to build and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Develop and update safety procedures in accordance with legislative amendments, and ensure their application.
  • Analyze and review forms related to maintenance, safety inspection and accident investigation, and provide recommendations.
  • Take part in workplace inspections and accidents/incidents and near-misses investigations, identify necessary corrective measures and follow up on recommendations.
  • Design plan and deliver training programs and information sessions on prevention. Create and provide relevant working tools to customers.

 

Your profile

  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in occupational health and safety in a unionized, industrial environment.
  • University degree or college diploma in Health and Safety or related field.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations, and relevant SLSMC procedures, rules and standards.
  • Sound knowledge of safety standards applicable to an industrial environment, such as WHMIS, lockout procedures and risk assessments.
  • Priority management and organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Championing customer needs.
  • Fluent in French and English, verbal and written, in order to communicate with teams located in Quebec and Ontario.
  • Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) driver’s licence and insurable driving record.
  • Eligibility for Marine Transportation Security Clearance.
