Assignment : Permanent
# of openings : 2 

Hours of work: 40 hours, 12 hour rotating shifts

Salary range : $38.52 - $47.77 per hour (Rate as of April 2024)

                         $40.06 - $49.68 per hour (Rate as of April 2025)

With this opportunity, you will gain hands-on experience in activities related to the passage of vessels through the Welland Canal, complete regular maintenance tasks and respond to breakdowns.

Your responsibilities

• Perform all activities related to the passage of vessels and structures, including operating lock and bridge equipment, vessel mooring & monitoring, and monitoring water levels.
• Complete and record work orders related to maintenance and respond to breakdowns to minimize disruption to navigation.
• Perform all tasks related to general housekeeping and civil work of the lock areas.
• Perform all activities related to security of the operational facilities, in compliance with the applicable security requirements.
• Apply safe work methods in compliance with corporate safety programs and applicable legislation.

Your profile

• Have completed a secondary schoold education and an apprenticeship program in electricity
• Have a certificate of qualification as a licensed Industrial Electrician (442A) in Ontario
• Have two (2) to five (5) years experience in an industrial environment maintaining controls and electrical equipment, especially in programmable logic controls and variable speed motor controls.

• Knowledge of soft starters/variable speed drives, ethernet, remote I/O and fiber optics communication methods and equipment.

• Familiar with PLC programming (ladder and IEC languages) and operator workstation software.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, days and nights.
• Satisfactory completion of a security check
• Satisfactory completion of a post-offer medical examinations and a drug test including cannabis
• Valid Class G (ON) driver's license and insurable driving record
