Hours of work: 37.5 per week
Annual salary: $120 000 - $133 000
Your role
The Marine Officer carries out assignments related to the condition of vessels, hazardous cargo requirements, transit and equipment regulations, liaising with Seaway personnel and other agencies, and providing guidance and support in the development and delivery of ISO program and Marine Transport Security Plan.

Your responsibilities
- Review ship plans and data to evaluate the ability of vessels to transit the Seaway system, and communicate with shipyards and owners regarding transit and equipment requirements.
- Lialse and coordinate with the shipping industry and other agencies on standards, requirements and procedures related to vessel operations.
- Promote navigational safety and advise Regional operations on challenging nautical issues.
- Review and assess accidents, equipment failures and other Marine incidents that occur within the Seaway system and when required, attend to vessel accidents, review salvage plans, assess vessel seaworthiness for compliance with Seaway regulations, including Dangerous Cargo Regulations. and ability to transit, and issue specific transit instructions.
- Carry out studies related to developments in the Marine Industry and assess impacts on Seaway operations, regulations, inspections and other requirements.
Your profile
- Diploma of post-secondary technical studies
- Certificate of competency as Master Mariner valid for Canadian ship
- Enforcement Officer Qualification
- Minimum of eight (8) years experience in Marine operations, particularly in Marine surveying, inspections, accident investigations and hazardous cargo transportation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Marine legislation, dangerous goods regulations, and Seaway regulations.
- Knowledge of applicable procedures, rules, standards and safe work practices with respect to performing duties.
- Valid Class G (ON) or Class 5 (QC) driver's license and insurable driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in French and English.
