Hours of work: 37.5 per week
Salary range:$119,632.50 to $133,809.00

Your responsibilities

  • Inspect vessels to ensure customer compliance to the rules and regulations governing the St. Lawrence Seaway system.
  • Conduct inspections, analyze and report information pertaining to accidents, incidents and violations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to various SLSMC departments as required.
  • Liaise and coordinate with various external stakeholders (such as: Owners, Agents, Masters, Classification Surveyors and Underwriters, Pilotage, Transport Canada-Marine Safety and other Government Agencies).
  • Monitor and report on vessel safety, security and compliance data.
  • Perform enforcement duties as a designated “Enforcement Officer” under the Canada Marine Act.

 

Your profile

  • Post-secondary technical studies
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in operations
  • Certificate of competency as Master Mariner valid for Canadian ship
  • Enforcement Officer Qualification under the Canada Marine Act
  • Comprehensive knowledge of marine legislation, practices, regulations, and the operation and specifications of various vessel types
  • Specific knowledge of marine surveying, inspections and accident investigation
  • Knowledge of applicable procedures, rules, standards and safe work practices with respect to performing duties
  • Fluent in French and English, verbal and written, in order to communicate with captains and partners
  • Class 5 (QC) driver's license and insurable driving record
  • Eligibility for Marine Transportation Security Clearance.
